Baked Garlic Turnip Fries

So why is this zero calorie? A calorie is the unit of energy-producing potential in food that, if not used, is converted to fat and then stored in all those nasty little areas like our hips, thighs and buttocks. .

Every piece of food that we stuff into our mouths has the following ingredients:

  • Nutrients (Carbohydrates, protein, fat)
  • Caloric Value (calories)
  • Vitamins
  • Minerals
Why is this important? Because when we eat, the vitamins and minerals in our food help our bodies to produce enzymes that aid in the digestion of that food. Negative calorie foods cause our bodies to produce even more enzymes that not only break down the particular food's own calories, but additional stored calories as well. This can stimulate effective weight loss in a relatively short period of time. Turnips are one of those foods.
These fries taste like the regular potato fries. I was shocked. I can now have my guilty pleasure food, without the weight gain.

Zero Calorie Apple Celery Salad

I am not one that usually enjoys Celery in my salad. The reality is, I am not that big of a Celery fan at all. So I was shocked when I fell in love with this salad. I admit it does not sound appealing at all. Funny thing is... everyone loved it. We had company here from out of town, so I made two salads, one that was negative calorie foods, for me. The other a creamy cucumber dish for the guests. Everyone loaded up on the cucumber one and just took a little spoonful of the apple celery salad. Soon, everyone came back for seconds of the apple celery salad and it was the talk of the table, how well the flavors went together. I dare you to try it. Eat it all day... it is after all burning more calories than it contains.

Negative Calorie Apple Celery Salad

1 apple, cut into julienne slices
1/4 cup thinly sliced red onion

2 tsp lime or lemon juice
Salt and pepper to taste.

Chill until you are ready to serve, or serve immediately!

zero calorie simple syrup

What do you drink to beat the heat? These days there are a lot of low calorie or zero calorie drinks out there, but most of them are filled with nasty chemicals. If anyone tells you it is ok to drink diet coke or any other drink like it, then you may want to do some reading on what those "zero calorie" ingredients actually do to your body. There are countless articles you can read online. Here are a few:
Aspartame is not the only thing in diet cola that can kill you.
You are what you eat. You cannot expect to lead a healthy productive life if you are filling your body with toxins. So my solution to this is Stevia. It is a plant. Plain and simple. 100% natural and 100% ZERO calories. I like to make this simple syrup and add it to any fruit and water to make a great drink. Lemonade and Limeade are the ones I use most frequently. You can use club soda water with this syrup to make a nice spritzer. Enjoy!

Mint Simple Syrup
adapted from Curry and Comfort
Boil 1 cup stevia, 2 cups water and 6-8 mint leaves.
Bring to a boil for 2-3. Allow to steep and cool.
